hi ya, I finished my FTEAC course in level 5 tourism in April 2010, I have been waiting for the FETAC certificate and I popped in the school a couple of times, tried to figure out when they distribute the awards to students generally, they however didnt give me a clear answer instead, they asked me to wait patiently as they said there were some students who failed and repeated the exam so it takes a little bit longer than usually. It has been almost 8 months, I still havent received my certificate yet and I really need that cos I have to my uni enrollment in Holland n the deadline is due at the middle of January, 2011. So Im just wondering is there anything I can do on this? why its taking so long like..?

That's a really long wait! I thought mine was bad. I did a FETAC Level 5 first aid course in May, and didn't get the certificate until November. I heard somewhere that awards are issued twice a year...maybe have a look on fetac.ie for proper details?

I'm doing a year-long course which finishes in May and we're expecting results in July - waiting a year for them will really mess up all our college applications! If I were you, I'd get on to fetac and find out what the delay is. Good luck!

A course finishing in April should have had results by August. The business about some people repeating sounds very suspect. If you fail, you fail, you do not get a second go before everyone else's results are published.

It rather sounds as though you were with a private provider? Who were you with?

The formal certificate might not be issued until November, but the results letter should have been available from August.

I think so my friend said to me I have to ask them 2 questions

    1. What date were my results ratified at the exam board meeting.
2: When did FETAC receive my official ratified results.

If I dont have the information about the two I wont be able to question to FETAC about the award delay, however its now Christmas holiday so the school is closed, I think I have to wait till January and getting so near to the deadline just makes me devastated.:(

I was with the Irish International Business School its a new private college in Galway. I got the results letter in August having said that I am not sure whether the university in the Netherlands would accept that as an enrollment requirement piece.

I am the FETAC Co-Ordinator in my centre. It is very bad practice to make you wait so long to get your certificate. Certs are issued 4 times a year. If you finished your course in April, your work should have been put forward for certification in May/June. Results statement in August and Cert issued by November the latest. That is what happened in my centre anyway. People who put work forward for certification in November this year will be getting their certs in January 2011. You really should be going into your course provider and insisting they sort this out for you. Also give FETAC a ring and explain the situation. Email might be a better option actually as they are not the best for answering the phone but will reply to an email.

In the short term your letter should be ok, provided it is an official FETAC letter and not just one from the college. People apply for college with only the preliminary results from LC and the Certificate is not sent until later (in fact many of them were never sent out over a good few years).

I stand by the fact that getting the certs should have nothing to do with people repeating. Afaik you cannot 'repeat' without doing the course again, at least you cannot in my centre. If the college held back the submission of results to FETAC in order to give some people a second chance at it I would think that that would be regarded as poor practise. You would have to contact FETAC to find out though.

I finished my course in October. Still no cert. I did through FAS. FAS tel me the delay is due to a FETAC audit of FAS. But it seems that everyone is having problems
