being the wrestling nerd that I am, I have never been as undersold on a pro wrestling year then 2010. I started back watching in january when bret came back (who didnt) and i kept thinking "this will get better". not due to hart, but just the way the calender goes. i knew that bret couldnt perform again and there would be some **** wrestlemania angle/match, which there was. my only surprise was really seamus being as good as he is (go on!). i had him written off a bit but he really has proved me wrong, both on the mic and in the ring. theres a guy thats probably gonna be around for years to come. John morrison has also been excellent. lacking personality but that will develop. i think a feud with jericho would have done him a world of favours, like a big feud over 2/3 months and really big up his persona, much like regal did with edge. edge became a man after that and had the foundation to move on.

hence one of my biggest fears for 2011 - morrison doesnt get over like he should. i think wwe is rushing him cos the top level is relatively stale. they pushed swagger waaaaay too early and aside from seamus and the miz and a little bit of del rio, there is no other guys that can mix with cena & co. yeah yeah, you can say nexus & barrett but they have been squashed every ppv. even the one barrett won it was "oh look... a crap angle with new guys" - really reminded me of wwf circa 1996, ****ty low brow angle with little good wrestling.

one thing i will say is thank **** batista is gone, ive never seen such a useless big man with as much accolades as he has. he was never better then his enforcer days in evolution but man, that guy should give lessons to jenna jameson about dick sucking. missed his calling.

id love to see danielson develop himself. **** those twins (literally :D ), he needs to big himself up. id love to see a heel turn or something. make up become a big asshole who is still brilliant and develop himself. im a firm believer in going heel -> face for a character then the other way around (unless they are really special). him & morrison are the guys i want to see most of 2011 no doubt.. as well as miz on mic (theres another guy i wrote off.. how little faith i had in him. it was more my lack of faith in development within wwe, miz i think has done most things himself which is what you want).

at the top in wwe it has grown proper stale. i remember seeing a match this year and it was 6 guys and they had won something like 30 odd world titles between them. stats dont prove much but there is one that i think has a lot to do with ratings. look at the south park wwe episode - "ah sure we can just have edge & cena and this episode will never age" and they were right. new blood and less of stephanies ****ty 2-2-2-2 month stories would be good. im amazed tbh cos i remember HHH saying "the wrestling year in wwe is in 2 segments. summerslam - wrestlemania and wrestlemania - summerslam" and he was pretty much right. now the stories last 2 months then some non-relevant angle is brought in. theres no overall lasting feel to it. no depth - big problem.
i really hope wwe opens itself up a bit more. if there is another year like the one that has gone by i cant see any change in the ratings. cena only gets so much, as has been proven, and they certainly need a fresher approach. lets hope ziggler, daniel bryan, morrison, seamus & co. can do ti.
oh - and santino wont last but oh fukin well.

as far as tna goes - i dunno what to say.
GET RID OF HOGAN AND THE STOOGES is the message here. he has already ****ed it enough with his crappy rehashed angles. yeah, give jeff the belt.. good job hogan, mr "i know wrestling better then anyone on the planet" sure sure, but hulk, you seem to have missed the MASSIVE DRUG AND DEATH PROBLEMS THAT HAVENT GONE AWAY. fukin retard. him, russo, bischoff = wrestling poison. i really feel sorry for all the great guys in tna. like i can watch AJ, Joe, MCMG's & co. until the cows come home but as someone who lived through the **** of WcW in the day - the wrong guys are getting the pushes. wcw had a **** ton of talent in its heyday. nitro was frickin awesome. you'd see guys like eddie g, malenko, jericho & co fukin make a show but the last 20 mins were always the worst cos out came hall, nash & hogan or whoever the fuk else and all the brilliance gets pissed down the drain by these egomaniacs who think they are far smarter then they are.

tna has the talent right there in the company to make something of itself - but no. the guys in charge now only know one way - look to the past to make the money now, the future doesnt matter. Joe & co are fuked as long as tna stays as it is. giving van dam the title over aj? YES HULK YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND WRESTLING. this is the exact **** im saying. i love RVD, really, i do. i have ecw shirts of his and such... but hes no champion.. hes not going to carry a wrestling company. he has **** all of a personality and should never really be a main event guy because the truth of it is - hes no story teller. AJ is, and that marks him as unique and different but he is currently in the process of getting squashed by ****bag hogan & jeff fukin hardy and that bull**** brigade of ego fukin maniacs that he isnt going to be as important as he should be. 2 years ago you say to me "tna" i think "aj styles".. 1998 you say to me "wwf" i say "stone cold". thats how they should be building the company but no - lets cram it with more fukin cocksuckers and ****bags and greedy cronies and see what happens. i give tna 2 years until its all [scottsteiner]sud n' dun[/scottsteiner] and thats a real fukin shame as there is so much there.

hmmmmm, as for new champions in the new year ill go with:
    morrison for the WWE
    Del Rio for the World
    Lindsay Lohan for the TNA

so heres to 2011 - lets hope for something deeper in WWE and some substance and in TNA - lets hope the slimeballs **** off back to obscurity from whence they came

you gotta know the flah wont pass up an invitation like that :pac:

for me I can def see Alberto Del Rio get the SD world title at some point and expect the youth movement to contine atleast if the youth given the push run with their chance like Sheamus or The Miz did in the past year. For example if Morrison can improve on the Mic he will be a strong contender for a title push also.

It's kinda a bit late to suggest this with his current storyline having already started on Raw but I expect a huge year from Punk too. He has been an occasional title holder/challenger for a while (on SD) but this year he will become an established important main event player on Raw and will get a lot of airtime as one of those relied on while the youth develop and the HBK, Jericho etc void needs to be filled.

Sheamus and the Miz will continue to be pushed also because they have responded as the company would want when pused so far and since Vince/HHH are high on them.

At this moment despite the expectation that they could screw it up like the tag divison I also have hopes for the Womens divison after
    Awesome Kong
has apparently signed on and alongside Beth, Natayla, Gail Kim and others could provide an actual respectable division with decent matches if they were ever given the chance.

My main hope is that CM Punk becomes a true WWE main eventer and avoids any burials. He might even get to be big enough of a star to be like Cena and wear what he wants backstage :pac:

My main hope for WWE in 2011 is a world title reign for Christian plus a feud with a heel Edge. I hope Jericho returns sometime in 2011. I like to see some legit tag teams to debut and built a decent tag team division maybe Nxt Season 5 could be for tag teams.

As for TNA just get rid of Hogan and Bischoff, put Joe, AJ and Angle back in the world title picture with Anderson, Pope, Morgan, Wolfe and even Doug Williams.

That is the 1st thing they need to do , Surely Dixie will realise thath they have done nothing for tna bar r@pe them of money and talent that had to be let go to pay for them

wow the original post is so bitter that there's no point trying to point towards any good points this year. But at least it's been fresher than last year. WWE did a full year of Orton/Cena/HHH and TNA's product was at it's lowest point.

But Jazzy you sound like a guy who shouldn't be watching wrestling week to week. Just poke the head in for the PPVs. or watch ROH or NJPW, or MMA, or even some old wrestling (my bro bought me a ton of Tagged Classics DVDs from the late 80s/early 90s) and they're great fun.

If you saw no good in Miz, or Nexus, there's nothing for you in 2011. Also, Morrison's character/promo work is a disgrace :pac:

great Opening post, considering is was 2.43am!

I...... erm..... thought WWE 2010 was pretty good except for the retirements, Kane as Champion and end of ECW.

Nexus, Orton as Babyface, Danielson with WWE, Punk v Mysterio feud my own favourites.

    My hopes for 2011 are:

Punk filling the Jericho/Batista Super Heel role on RAW.

Danielson to be in a show stealer at Mania.

Continued sucess for Dolph and Vickie on Smackdown. Del Rio to become a world champion.

Rey Mysterio to get more respect as nobody has had as many successful feuds one after the other as Rey Rey.

Sheamus to have Reign Number 3 as WWE Champion.
