when does the vrt for a classic go from €50 to €200?

    should i clear my classic now before the duty goes up and what should i get it cleared to zv or 78 DL?Or should i leave it on english plates :confused:

    VRT category C goes up from €50 to €200 on 1st May 2011.

    Either move up North or clear it. ZV or DL, your choice.

    clear it now. Be prepared to provide evidence of date of purchase and date of entry nto the State. Bear i mind it needs to be roadworthy (unless the UK MoT is still valid) and the chassis number needs to be stamped on the shell.

    A valid test cert. from any country including Ireland required for NCT/VRT assesment.

    I dont think in need a mot cert to clear a classic do i seen as it will be nct exempt when it get cleared?Anyone know roughly what the zv numbers are at at the min?

    No you don't need one but - apparently - if you don't have one your car will be subject to some sort of road worthiness test that you could avoid otherwise. I haven't seen this in personally in practice but it seems that's the way things are since the NCT crowd took over.
