This is a link to North Carolina penalties for illegal possession and drug trafficking. According to the charges levied, Hardy is facing a MANDATORY sentencing of 45 days at least. There is no getting around this... regardless of plea agreement or not. The question is whether this will be 45 days in the hole... or possibly 6 months!

I thought that as well, maybe he could just get a hefty fine and something like community service or maybe a suspended sentence.

**** him. yesterdays news. there is a lot better ppl in wrestling who deserve the shots hes got. living off his 99 - 02 lifecycle. if tna had any brains they would realise that this guy is not a real draw and never will be

Bit harsh. Admittingly his personal lifestyle is somewhat a disgrace but he can still put on a good match and gets huge pop whether he's in the WWE or TNA. If he sorted himself out then I'd love to see him back in the E again

Being the leader of the PW straight edge society i would say a drug filled life is a prison sentence in itself.
    :cool::cool:

    :pac:
Yeah, but obviously he will get something. But im more interested in how they deal with it storywise.

Will they make it known or will be just so happen to get injured or something..

nah, dont believe that. hes like a mick foley without any personality. i saw a promo of his recently and he was trying to rip off taker, proper lol. he is the last bastion of "hardcore" wrestling and even at that, he had to rely on edge, christian and the dudleys to get him over. i dont care how many feet you can jump from, it'll never give you a personality.
and if im wrong - why have tna basically tried to super-impose a new personality on him? "derr jeff sells derr.. lets play on his real life problems and come up with this dark troubled emo drug abuser ****"

Its not a new personality at all.

Its the late 90s Raven personality :P

Could they put matt in Jail too to stop tna from hiring another washed up,opinionated ex wwe wanker.WWE would take J.Hardy back in a second if the charges were dropped & he laid off the various amount of drugs he clearly uses. He was the most over babyface they had 18 months ago.

Most likely suspended jail term then.

I don't know, I think people are being a bit harsh on his talents here ... he's certainly good to great in the ring when he wants to be. Just a shame his personal life brings him down. Hopefully a stint in jail might improve that though, can't imagine he'd get much more than the minimum though.

My interest in him totally went when I saw the chair shot he hit Kennedy with. It was totally unprofessional and I would refuse to work with him going forward. To be honest I would have beat him to an inch of his life over that and TNA have a lot to answer for letting this guy enter a ring in his current state just look at the youtube muck him and matt are churning out and to think I thought London was mad but everything he said is probably true

Totally agree. The guy is the biggest waste of talent ever. Wasted every opportunity handed to him. Him and his brother are just train wrecks.

He was the most over superstar in WWE at one stage and his feud with Punk was awesome imo - so I too wouldnt mind seeing him return to WWE at some stage ;)

I'm not a fan of him in TNA so if he does go to jail which I think is likely hopefully Angle gets the title back

He'd be better off in jail than in TNA in fairness

We'll see what happens.

TNA pretty much have to get the title off him now. Doesn't look great having your champion pleading guilty to drug charges

TNA are guilty of a much bigger crime, turning Jeff into a heel

will be very interesting to see how TNA handel this without making his heel turn and more importantly in my eyes the dumping (in the garbage) of their HW title to create a personalised belt for Jeff even more rediculous since Jeff will now most likely have to be stripped of that title cos he is due to serve time in prison for Drug problems.

If Hardy only gets 45 days I suspect TNA could work around it.
They often tape 3 Impact shows in a week, so if they step that up a bit Hardy could be out by the time they need him again.

The interesting thing with taping shows has always been if someone gets seriously injured at a PPV. They sometimes film the Impact that follows a PPV BEFORE the actual PPV.
Someone could be taken away on a stretcher at Genesis, only to be miraculously healed by the following Thursday's Impact.

That has never been done. If someone has been "miraculously healed" it's due to the logic holes in TNA, not them filming taped shows before they film a live show

As has been said that never happens. Schedule used to be Sunday ppv, Monday 2 weeks of Impact, a week break and then another 2 weeks of Impact. Think it might be slightly different now.

I don't think doing jail time will cause TNA to change their plans for Hardy too much. Maybe a bit of time off tv and thats it. Although I will be surprised if he does any time. A good lawyer will play the new parent card and he will end up in rehab and doing a few visits to sick kids. Hopefully it will wake him up.

I was wrong indeed, just had a better look now.
They do tape shows out of order though, which made me think that maybe they film the following Impact before a POV.

that would explain how Mickie James appeared to have done some serious knee damage in that cage match, but be none the worse for it the "next week"

The cage match was taped on the first day and she worked through the knee injury for the rest of the tapings - it was apparently nothing serious. I don't think Jeff would've pleaded guilty unless he was offered a pretty good deal.

mustn't have been too bad then, looked worse with her immediate reaction, which definitely wasnt kayfabe

Until he was fired from WWE, Jeff Hardy was a bigger draw in 2009 than John Cena.

He's also the only house show draw that TNA have ever had, at least he was until his heel turn

And he wasn't fired from WWE :pac:

i find it extremely suspicious that he was only out the door a few weeks before the cops raided his gaf!!

i'm calling it, though, Jeff Hardy serves no jail time. He gets 6 months community service and a 12-step drug rehab programme.*
*i realise there's supposed to be a mandatory 45 day sentencing but Hardy's a celebrity -- a former WWE champion -- who's currently working and is a productive member of society, not just some scumbag on the street. Hardy, much like CSI's Gary Dourdan, won't face jail time.

I wonder what the impact taping schedule is like this month and next, if TNA will have a contigency plan in case i'm wrong lol.

Jeff is supposed to be wrestling in Japan next week with a few other TNA wrestlers. They better make sure he doesn't do a runner while he is away from American soil.

North Carolina newspaper The Pilot reports that TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Hardy will enter a negotiated plea Jan. 20, according to his attorney, James Van Camp.

"We anticipate a resolution of this matter in January," Van Camp said earlier this month at an administrative session of Moore County Superior Court.

Moore County District Attorney Maureen Krueger said that Hardy will plead guilty to one or more of the charges he faces.

Krueger did not disclose details of the state's plea offer but said it will include a sentencing arrangement. It should be noted that even misdemeanor guilty pleas in the state of North Carolina require a MANDATORY 45 days in jail. We shall see.

The Pilot reports that the plea would have to be approved by the court. A judge may refuse to accept a plea arrangement involving a negotiated sentence although it's unlikely.

County deputies raided Hardy's home on September 11, 2009 after Fayetteville police received a tip about drug use there. He was arrested on charges of trafficking in controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids, after a search of his residence yielded 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a residual amount of powder cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. As that time, Matt Hardy tweeted "it's no big deal" and that the "truth" would come out. Yup.
