    Irish Met Society Upcoming Events

    The Irish Met Society has 4 evening lectures planned for Winter/Spring 2011 as well as a one day conference. The lectures will be held at venues in Dublin while the conference will be on in NUI Maynooth, Co. Kildare.

    January 20th: “Solar Disinfection of Drinking Water - Saving Lives with Sunlight” by Dr Kevin McGuigan, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

    February 10th: "Commissioners of Irish Lights and Lighthouses of Ireland" by Eoghan Lehane.

    March 26th One Day Conference:

    -"Climate Change Adaptation - the Challenges for Ireland" by Professor John Sweeney, Department of Geography, NUI Maynooth.

    -"Seismology – Volcanoes and Ocean Wave Activity" by Professor Chris Bean, UCD.

    -"A Day in the Life of a Weather Forecaster" by Katie Howard, Met Office, Exeter.

    -"Climate Change" by Duncan Stewart, TV presenter and architect.

    -"Weather Conditions and the Course of History" by Professor Peter Lynch, UCD Meteorology and Climate Centre.

    April 14th: “Numerical Weather Prediction” by Professor Fedor Mesinger, University of Maryland.

    May 12th: “The Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming” by Professor Ray Bates, UCD.
