    Hey,
Just took apart my 80gb Fat ps3 to clean the lens in the blu-ray drive,

Got is all apart no bother, except I had left a disc in there,
took it apart anyway as I though there would be no problems with that,
Only now when I put the drive back together I can't get a disc in the drive as there is a little white piece of plastic right at the mouth of the drive that looks like it pops up to hold the disc in.
I can't see a way to get this bit down and have tried my best to reassemble the drive with a disc back in it.

    Any ideas for me?

Dis-assemble and re-assemble correctly or buy a new blu ray drive.

The timing of the disc loadiing mechanism is messed up. You need to take it all apart again, & reset the timing of all the wheels & cogs until you can move them by hand.

    No it didn't unfortunately,
    did this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSYYmYXgVl0

but it didn't work, might have gotten the lens dirty while i was wrestling with the gears, i'll try again before I splash for a replacement lens,

Can you clean the lens too much??
When I shine a bright light on them and look at them with a magnifying glass I can see tiny scratches. Do you think that thats terminal?

More likely the laser is burned out, quite common these days.
