Hello ,I've just reserved a sony 40" bravia on argos ,through the bargain alerts forum.
    The model is a 40BX400

At the moment I have a panasonic plasma 37" that has 720 resolution ,it's about two years old.

The main reason I'd go for the sony now is because I've got a bit of a blu-ray collection and I don't think the tv I have does them justice. Should I wait for another year or so ,or is the sony set worth the change now ?

    Thanks.

It does seem a basic enough kind of set. I've been saying it repeatedly on boards lately,go for the 37inch Philips set at 499. 100hz,it'll do it justice.

Thanks greetings ,I didn't notice your recommendations before:(
I got the 40" sony yesterday and have been playing around with it ,I tried wipeout on the ps3 and did notice the set struggling. Also notice on some SD pictures the set struggles in dark areas.

Does the 100Hz help LCD's cope with dark areas any better or is this down to the display engine of the tv?.

I've kept all the packaging etc ,so I can still take the set back.

100 hz is excellent for gaming and sports in particular in minimising blur or drag created by fast motion. Not so sure about colours to be honest.
