Just recently purchased this and was going to try and install it once the weather clears up. I have put all the pieces together but i have noticed that there are no elevation markings on the elevation bracket. It seeems to be a problem with this equipment and i was just wondering how best to overcome the problem. does anyone know how far back i will have to tilt the dish to get a elevation of 21.5 degrees. does the scale start at zero or at a different value so that i may be able to judge where to start

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance for any replies

Elevation markings on dishes are only a basic guide in any case, so don't worry about the fact that there are none on your particular dish. Most dishes are of the offset type, which means that the way the dish is constructed and the the way the LNB is mounted on the arm causes it to look upward in any case. If you have a look at any SKY dish, you will see that the dish face is mounted pretty much vertically and the LNB points upward to the centre of the dish to receive the reflected signals from the satellite which is at about 21 degrees elevation in the case of Astra 2.
When you install the dish you will need to tweak the horizontal angle (azimuth) and the vertical angle (elevation) to peak the signal quality from the satellite, so the markings are only a start point anyway. You will need an assistant to verify the signal quality on the receiver. As a final tweak you need to rotate the LNB in its holder to maximise quality. For Astra 2, the cables coming from the LNB will be at about the 7 o'clock position as you face the front of the dish.

Sorry to go off thread but my mother has just purchased the same kit, it doesn't mention anything about HD content on the box, are you receiving HD channels with it? If not I need to change it before the installer comes on Wednesday!

No it will not receive HD channels. It will receive BBC ITV etc as SD (Standard Definition).

    BTW
I tried out one of those receivers some time ago. On doing a satellite search for any new channels I found that it would destroy the existing channel list order (rather than append any new channels found to the end of the existing list) !!! Very annoying,
