Engine management warning light in caddy

So im driving back from my sisters today, and notice the engine managment warning light is lighting up on the dash. I dont know much about cars/vans, but i do know this light means bad news. I have an 04 vw caddy van 1.9tdi. Has any other caddy owner had this light come on in their caddy? Im terrified something could be wrong with the engine, as im trying to start a business and i need this van. I cant afford another. It drove home grand as usual, no power loss issues through the gears, no smoke coming out of the exhaust, no coolant or anything else for that matter doesnt seem to be leaking, as far as i can tell so far. I started it once since i got home to see if this light had went off(which it has'nt)and it started on the button. So all and all, If the light had never come on, i wouldnt think any different of the van. Put it that way. I hate when these bloody lights lights come on. I tend to get a mini heart attack. Thanks in advance guys!:(

go to the garage and they will connect the diagnostic tool and tell u what does this light mean for around 30e

Try looking at the air filter to see if it's blocked with dirt, long shot but simple to check.

Could be a multitude of things, get a vw or vcds diagnostic scan done and go from there.
If you are near Dublin I can scan it for you.

:DThanks everyone, but when i went out for the second time last night to start it again, the light went off and thankfully it has stayed off now 24hours later. My brother reckons it was a frozen sensor or something. Thanks again lads

So the engine warning comes on and off now. I am going to get it plugged in as soon as my local garage opens up again. The van is driving as normal, but i did discover this cap which is connected to a wire, which in turn, sits into the brake fluid reservoir has broken away and now no longer sits correctly. Its very loose now actually. I think its a sensor as it also has a bit of metal at the end of it, the shape of it kind of reminds me of a fork actually. Would this set off the warning light? also, sorry for the terrible description above.

Root of the problem appears to be all four glowplugs are gone and a faulty fuel sensor. Just thought id post up the results for future reference for someone else who may have this problem.:D
