Connection going down constantly

    Hi,

About 24 hours ago I found my Eircom connection dropping seemingly every 5 to 10 minutes. I've checked the modem's log and it showed it happening at that rate, but then sometimes not happening for around an hour before resuming that same frequency of drops. Also, when it reconnects it reports a different connection speed sometimes. Somes it's just a tiny difference but other times it's around 10000 instead of 15360, which is around what it has normally reported.

Last night around midnight it seemed to stop happening. I checked the logs and it hadn't happened in about 75 minutes at that point. I set the clock correctly at that point so I'd have a good idea in the morning if anything happened overnight. Unfortunately when I woke up this morning the time was wrong and the log was only show the previous 75 minutes, meaning the router might have been plugged out this morning by someone else or it rebooted. The logs that were there showed the connection dropping about 8 times in that 75 minutes.

This is the report for the most recent drops. I've lost all other logs at this point but what I saw yesterday was this exact error every time it went down.

I was told that I'd be upgraded to NGB soon but I doubt the work would have begun on St. Stephen's Day.

EDIT: I've since realised that the phone line is dead and might have been for days, so I've logged a fault. The DSL has actually been more stable the last few days unless I start using Bittorrent and it goes down within minutes.
