    HI there

anyone who can help me , i would really appreciate it. I have a degree in Tourism and am interested in the prospect of teaching a VEC or FETAC level. I understand that I have to do a post graduate dip in education which i look forward to doing, however it seems that the dead line for the courses is before christmas which I have obviously missed.

I dont want to wait another year but getting started, Im just wondering if there a back door course or a smaller course I can do before this, or is there somewhere else that has a later dead line...

any information that you could give would be really appreciated.

    Thanks :)

Check the Teaching Council recognises your degree for teaching. If they don't, you will have to do another primary degree as well as the teaching qualification - and then at the end fo all that there are fewer and fewer jobs.

Ah, is it time for the monthly "Can I get around the normal ways of becoming a trained teacher" topic?

Out of interest, what subject do you think you could teach with a tourism degree?

If you can answer the question or provide helpful advice for the OP, then please feel free too. Otherwise there is no need to post.

Fair enough, I apologise for being snarky. But I do feel my question is valid.

I can't imagine a Tourism degree is going to qualify Raver for any particular subject, unless there was geogrpahy or something taught as an intrinsic part of it, and even then, it's shakey ground unless its recognised by the TC. Presumably Raver has thought what subjects he wants to teach and I was curious as to what subjects he thinks a tourism degree will entitle him to teach. The PGDE application, regardless of the time its filled in, will ask what subjects you want to teach, and if the tourism degree does not offer any real options, then you'll likely have to go back to college and study a subject of your choosing for a few years.

Considering the impatience ofthe OP ("I dont want to wait another year"), I thought I'd enquire as to what he thought he was qualified to teach so as to offer further advice on the topic.

I have no problem with your question. I am interested in the answer myself.

certain tourism courses qualify for teaching Business or/and Accountancy maybe languages.

so if her course does she only needs to do PGDE
