Mrs cyrus got me an apple tv 2g in my stocking (I have an iPad and ip4 aswell)

Anyway I'm just wondering how do I maximise it's potential as a media device outside of downloading movies from iTunes, what can I do if I want to stream avis or mkvs?

    I'm using a windows xp netbook (I.e I don't have a mac)

    Any advice appreciated

Got an Apple TV 2G also. Declan from Currys gave me the 40GB for €99 when they were at the end-of-line.

You need to create a patchstick to unlock it's full potential (XBMC, Boxee, Transmission etc). I've never done it on Windows - only on a Mac.

But there should be instructions here somewhere: http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/Main_Page

Apologies... yeah, I got the 1st Gen.

Can't see any windows apps to jailbreak the 2G.. just PwnageTool 4.1

Jailbreak isn't quite there yet for it. Wait 6 months and see what 3rd party apps come out for it.

In the meantime, buy an American iTunes voucher off eBay and register an American iTunes account with it. Much better selection!
