    Hi All,

I was looking at a few campervan to rent in Oz for 3 months for 4 berth.
I seen a jucy choppa campervan and it looks perfect.

I was just wondering have anyone has any experience with this company and what are they like to deal with? And is in worth taking out insurance with them, as its $25 a day for insurance with them which i find very dear.

Or if you have any other company that you would recommend over in Oz.

Your comments would be appreciated. :D

Hey, I rented a Jucy van for a month (3 months seems a it much?!! What the hell are you planning on doing?? I got the $25 insurance as I wanted peace of mind. The costs of repairing anything on a van out here are huge, I think its like $130 just to repair a tire. The thing is though, you are going to be using it for 3 months - you ARE going to do damage to the van...it might just be cosmetic, but they will charge your credit card to repair it. If you want to be really smart, just pay for the rental and forget the insurance. When you bring it back they will probably find something wrong with it, or make something up to charge you a ridiculous fine... just cancel your card and apply for a new one the day you return the van. Unlike Wicked Campers, Jucy don't take a $500 deposit on the van on your credit card at the time of purchase, they just take the card details. Loads of backpackers do this. Avoid giving your card details to these companies, you do get fined for EVERYTHING.

Seriously though, Australia is REALLY expensive... much more so that you would believe. When I brought my van back, it had a small scratch on the bumper, that was it. I paid $700 extra on my trip for the insurance. It did however provide peace of mind as I wasn't worried if I ploughed it into a lamp post.

But may I suggest something...BUY a camper. If you are going to be using it for 3 months and there is 4 of you, it will be ALOT cheaper and you wont have to worry about insurance. Go into any hostel when your here and look at their notice boards...there is loads of campers for sail. A 4 berth one would be maybe $4000. But when you are finished with it just sell it to the next backpackers for $3500 or $4000... the trip may end up costing you nothing but petrol money!
