iPad Broken on update?

Got an iPad for Christmas, it was on 3.2.2 so I updated to the new 4.2.1.

Its just fresh out of the box, loaded my music and my apps on it this morning.

I tried to update just now and it failed on update, and now won't switch on. Its failing everytime I try to recover it too.

    I get the:
The iPad ''iPad'' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3014).
    error message

What can I do? Is it properly broken?

    Any help is massively appreciated.

3014 can indicate a problem contacting the Apple servers, or a problem with the downloaded update file.

With the amount of people globally getting iphones and ipads as xmas presents there could be a pretty big strain on Apples servers, give it some time and try again.

When you log onto iTunes, does the store work. Can you browse podcasts and music on the internet.
