There was a discussion recently on Matt Cooper about store openings and Pennys in Dundrum shopping centre said it will be open until 12 midnight tomorrow night.

That is crazy. I loved driving through the town today seeing the shops closed. Its always good for the entire world to stop for one day(mostly) and just relax and be with loved ones.

The madness just begins tomorrow with people aching to save €5 on the leftovers from Christmas that nobody wanted.

I don't get the negativity with regards to shops opening on St.Stephens Day.

It's obviously just a sign of the times that the shops are opening because they need the business, if they didn't need it that badly then they wouldn't open.

Noone is forcing you to go shopping on St.Stephens Day, you can stay at home as always.

It will also provide much needed money to workers who are finding it difficult financially at this time of year.

I'm not the biggest Christmas person and It's a difficult time for me considering some events that have happened in the past year for me so I will be glad to get out of the house and pick up a few bargains rather than being stuck at home.

    Thats my 2 cents anyway.

    Merry Christmas :)

I cannot understand why someone would be up at 5am to queue to get into a shop?

Either do I but you have to appreciate, as I do, that the world is full of miserly and greedy people who think that the store is trying to give them a good deal when in fact they are trying to offload the cheap merchandise that nobody would buy in desperation. Heck, the might buy it if me knock 10% off it though.

    Hi guys
i went into town today, didn't have much money i just wanted to get out of the house. It was a cattle market. It was awful. I didn't buy anything because if i didn't love it enough to pay full price then i don't need it. Two women had a full blown shouting match over a handbag in bt's. Pathetic. Recession my *"%#. Rant over. . I'm having a bad day
