Hey, my neighbour slid into the back of my parked car today. He said he'll pay for the damage, which is a new bumper and break light cover.

Just wondering what the process is for this kinda thing as i've never had to deal with claims for damage to my car. Gonna wait till stephens day to sort it all out though.

    Also,
    Merry Christmas

Well he's your neighbour so it's not like you don't know where he lives.
My experience of a similar situation:
I bumped into my friends' neighbour's car before, new bumper, I just exchanged details and asked him to get a quote & I'd pay it. Which is what happened, he got a quote for the new bumper & I gave him the money & made up receipts for both of us to sign so we both had proof of what transpired. That was not going through the insurance though, so he might be looking to do the same. You can tell him you'll get a quote and he can decide if he wants to go through his insurance or not.

Best wait until you get quotes to say if it's just a bumper and light, could be a lot more damaged underneath when it's fully inspected. Maybe you get a quote and then suggest to neighbour that he get one from someone he suggests so everyone is happy quote wise, will keep things all neighbourly :D. You should as was suggested sign a document saying you are happy with all repairs after the work is all done and won't pursue for more damages.

Bad in all that it is for someone to hit in to your car, accidents happen, especially in this weather and atleast the person didn't do a runner.

Depending on the car shouldn't be too pricey. Got new bumper and lights for my Laguna last week €100 for the lot and another €110 to have the new bumper touched up.

Wouldn't go through the insurance if you're sorting it out amongst yourselves. What car is it BTW?

Theres no point involving his insurance at this stage , get the quote and give the written estimate and take it from there.
