So my current PC is a tank. Got it in april 2002 and it's still running wow and Starcraft and solidworks. I replaced the gpu around 2 years ago because the old one was really not up to gaming anymore and was glitchy. A few days ago it froze for about 30 seconds, then the monitor didn't recognize the computer was there and just went into stand by. I restarted it, no luck. So I decided to open her up, check connections, check fans etc. Disconnected the card, reconnected it, worked away, grand job!

Anyway, it's happened a few times now and i'm really just wondering, am I better ff I'm better of replacing it or if it sounds like a bad connection or something like that? :o

The CPU is on the way out for a while now, quite sluggish and frequent short freezes, any links or anything? Also one thing I've noticed, when istart the computer up normally, it has the regular start up beep. But when I start it up and the graphics card isn't working, there's no beep.

Just trying to give all the info I can so the lovely people of the tech forums can hopefully help me out :D thanks in advance :)

It sounds like faulty memory / ram to me tbh.. If you've re-seated the graphics card and your still uncertain the only thing to do is try another card. Processors rarely develop intermittant faults, they thend to stop working completely if anything.. 8 years isnt bad going btw:D

Self builds arethe way to go sure :D replacing it next year anyway :P

Tracked down a faulty fan on the mobo there, oddly, the same fan had to be replaced about 6 years ago as I remember the beep code :P :o can't upload pics off phone but it's the smaller of the 2 on my mobo if that helps at all :P taking it apart now, seems to be a bad motor and can't get it open. I'll try and replace it after Xmas but I just caught it now so I'm sure this is just a coincidencial problem.....looks like this babys packing up like 9 months early xD
