    Greetings
Has anyone successfully set up Echolink with an EIRCOM Netopia 2247-62 wireless modem router? Not succeeded so far despite following the approach on the PortForward.com web site.

yes, once. A total pain, not helped by arcane Netopia menus. You need to set up the computer with Echolink with a Static IP on router subnet and use that ip fopr the forwarded ports. Disable any local Firewall on PC.

Echolink is a pile of junk. Skype is better. But it's possible to get it working.

    Thanks for the comments Watty

I have done the fixed IP address bit and got a bit further down the road but at the end there are a few ports I cannot lick. Managed to do so some years ago with an older Netopia modem and it worked for a while but I let it drop then. I have not had much luck so far with the present modem. I might be better off with a Belkin or other more popular box - I have found the Netopias to be a bit flakey anyway with several replaced in recent times.

    Gerry,

I had the same trouble with a replacement Netopia too.
First one was far more adjustable than the replacement one.
First one decided that it wanted to only operate when the
room temperature was above a certain value. Anything below,
especially at night and it just stopped working.

I had to setup stuff in the NAT which was easy in the older
    Netopia in comparison.
I'll have to check later on but I did find a way to persuade the
newer one to do the same thing but don't hold your breath waiting.
If someone else figures it out then you might get a faster answer.

Linksys, Dlink, Netgear, many others but not Belkin.
    Belkin is one of worst.

In EXPERT MODE -> CONFIGURE -> ADVANCED -> NAT

Setup the ports you need and what internal IP address to send them too.

Ensure you switch firewall to medium or off.
