Right so... A nice fuzz is next on the GAS bill...

Z.Vex Fuzz Factory is an obvious consideration and currently the most likely...

I've also been hearing good things about the Red Witch Fuzz God (I & II)

    Your favourite fuzzes?

I like my FF, but I think it's waaay too treble-y and quite often I miss the simplicity of a Big Muff.

I agree with Chris about the Fuzz Factory. I found it too harsh and trebly for my needs. I swapped mine for a fuzz face clone. If I had another fuzz I would have kept it but as your only fuzz it's not really suitable. Good as a second fuzz maybe for something different. Better suited to playing original music too, rather than covers imo. Doesn't really have that 'classic' fuzz sound and requires a lot of farting around with EQs etc to get it to sound good.

I have one of these and I love it: http://www.jimmybehanfx.net/effects-pedals/fuzz-face

I've also since got a Little Bug Muff which is bloody great. Obviously. 'Cause it's a Big Muff!

    www.buildyourownclone.com

Some nice fuzzes on there, vintage correct big muffs and old school tonebenders.

The M.I.Audio germanium fuzz looks really nice too though.

Ive been looking for a fuzz too. Ive heard that the analogman sunface fuzz is meant to sound great.

There is some relatively easy mod (I think involving replacing a cap on the input and output) which reduces the treble of the FF.

Can I do a top three?

Civil War/Green Russian V1 Big Muff

    Violet Ram's Head Big Muff

    Dam Meathead Dark

I only own an original of the Big Muff and even at that it's green case but with the same circuit as the blue and white civil war version. Germanium Fuzz Face clone would be up there too but I prefer the Meathead and it's less tempermental to boot.

Did you ever just hook all of them up together, turn em on, play an open G chord and think "that's it, that's my sound"?
