Appretiate some advice on Eotech purchase

Hey guys, just looking for some advice on a eotech i've being contemplating to get since i started airsofting.

    I've narrowed it down to to 2 version, a 553 and 552.

I had a few mates tell me to go for the 552 as they tend to be more secure on the rail that the 553 which is a quick release. Is there any truth to this? as in terms of astheic looks like everything in airsoft i prefer the 553 but would be happy with 552 if it were the case.

Whatever of the 2 as long as they use the common aaa or aa batteries i dont mind.

Another thing i heard and seen in some models is ghosting can be visiable on them. Im wondering is it down to a cheap brand or are certain models prone to this regardless of make.?

Another thing i would like your opinion on is what brand is the overall best in terms of being reliable and durable for eg king arms, hurricane, acm, guarder etc and would ye recommend the protective shield solded separatly..?

One last thing and not majorly important but as i have started a thread i might as well ask, i thought i came across a laser attachment for the eotech ages ago, are there some that come with a red laser or is there an attachment for them..?

Can anybody advice me on what is a very good make for these sights..?

Many thanks for your help in this.

    DP :)

    OOOkkay....no luck on that,

I'll just narrow it down to brand, which are better in your own opinion, hurricane, a.c.m, king arms, guarder or any other make...?

I can't really help you too much as I don't own an eotech (don't really like them myself), but I'll help as much as I can.

Out of the four brands you have listed would go with Guarder myself, just for the simple reason its a brand I trust. I've used many of the parts with no problems.

A friend of mine owns a G&P 552 and he loves it. Theres no ghosting or anything or the sort with it. I can't say if thats the best, but I can say it's not a pile of ****e.

Ghosting happens on cheap brands and AFAIK is usually caused by one of the lenses being misaligned (a.k.a. it just wasn't made properly). Heres what it looks like.

Yes you can get a laser module that attaches onto your eotech. It's just a replacement cover that has a laser built into the side. But they're the same price as the eotech (or almost). So it basically doubles the price of your sight. Up to you to decide if its worth it (I would say its not).

And when you buy your eotech, buy one of those clear protective screens with it.

The clear protectors aren't anywhere near as clear as would be nice - they blur and distort vision enough that I don't bother with them anymore, they pretty much remove the point of a reflex sight.

I use a cheapy 552 knock-off and it's actually pretty good; I guess I got lucky. I think this is the one although it's been ages since I got it. That cover is also crap by the way and I removed it after getting annoyed with it several times.

Out of the brands you listed, and if my memory serves me correctly, hurricane am bestest. BUT if you're dropping that sort of cash look on eBay for a used Bushnell Holo Sight (the poor man's EOtech), it's a real holographic sight and miles ahead of any airsoft stuff.
Failing that just get a china clone. The newer ones are just as good as G&P (many would be made in the same factory) and are usually a chunk cheaper.

If you're looking for flip up covers search eBay for GG&G ones, cheap and they're what the crap china ones are based on.
