HTC DESIRE version 2.29.405.5 software update

Just got a new update on HTC DESIRE. Now running 2.29.405.5.

Anyone know what it may include? It is small (4.5 mb) and said that it was maintenance.

Wife's legend got a similar 'maintenance' 2 weeks ago and lo and behold 2 days later she had Froyo. I am just hoping that this one is a prelude to Gingerbread. Now that would be a great Christmas present!

I see another thread that there's a similar update due for Desire HD and Z

Missus has been having some random reboots when using the music player and youtube. Hoping this update has a fix in there!

tried downloading this update, got reboot then phone with red triangle appeared, pulled battery out restarted , still using .2 software, thought it was bricked for a minute, a bit dodgy no?

I thought something was up when I updated. The phone rebooted and gave an error, but before I could read it another popup appeared telling me a new update was available. Doh!

But alas, I just chanced it again, and it worked the 'second' time.

Btw, check you have enough space maybe before updating? I had this problem a couple of weeks ago with the previous update.

I just updated as well and I don't see any difference. I'd say it was just a small bug fix for any problems caused by the last big release. It's always the way with software releases like that.

ONly change ive noticed so far is the market place. For me its got that new GUI that people were explaining earlier on in the week

I had the new market UI before the update. Havent noticed any major or minor changes with this update so suspect its just a bit of under the hood stuff.

On a side note, its very difficult to get the "release notes" with each of these updates, theres a lot on the official android site about the major updates but very little about these smaller ones (none at all that I could find actually)

Got loads of errors about not enough memory, seems to be loading on ok now, dont think its any major update, probably fixes

I can't seem to install this on my desire, gets about 1/3rd of the way that hangs and I have have pull out a battery. I have 23mb of space on the phone too.....

Everyone that has debranded their phone is having the same problem, even with the gold card. If you really want it then you have to manaully flash it yourself.

I think you need a minimum of 25mb free for an installation. First time around it hung for me too so I cleared up some space and it then worked.

have 35 myself and indeed more on a previous install attempt. Does this work with rooted, custom rom'd desire? is it even worth the hassle?

btw ive tried it about 5 times and always gets stuck on the bootup sequence saying that it failed to initialise iirc

i noticed nothing different except my wifi wont connect for some reason at the moment.
whether or not its the update or what i dunno.. really annoying me. my phone connects to the network but wont acquire an ip address :S

im guessing its since i updated around that its having these issues...

Update worked fine with my unrooted desire. It downloaded .2 first then .5 . Messed around with my sync settings a bit so have to delete some accounts to unsync (only way it seems) my contacts from some accounts, then add again with selective syncing.

Yeah that's the only positive change I've noticed. On the negative side I'm having problems with messaging and my keyboard accuracy seems to be off

Had that new Market interface before getting the upgrade, don't think it's part of it.

Pictures taken with my camera now seem very soft/blurry since the update...
