I got a 4th Gen touch and went to set it up but I need Itunes 10 i think and I can't download that with a 10.4 os x the system requirements are 10.5.
How do I amend this? Do I have to buy snow lepord or something?

    Any advice appreciated

You'll need to upgrade your system to either 10.5.8 or 10.6.

Specs are on the box and the Apple product pages, in fairness.

Ya but in fairness what time of year is it? Lots of gifts and the like, kind of ruins it if people are going around asking what software you're running! a lot of people buying things wouldn't be aware of such problems arising.

That being said there is sill an issue here. If xp can support itunes 10 this mac should be able to as well and if not snow leopard should be included or a discount or something. As far as I know the only way I can upgrade is to pay 30quid to update to SL which is bit stupid for a ipod that cost well over 200 and its not as if my macbook is ancient history a lot of people still have these and most update software to accomadate a new apple product that an older windows operating system can cope with.

The inability to even power up the ipod until until these specs have been met however isn't. Itunes desktop software should be optional.
