    Hi all,

Strange one - I have water in utility, but no water at kitchen mains or upstairs.

Any ideas on where to look for the frozen pipe? Have read on here to locate the stopcock, but if I have water in utility would that mean main stopcock area is not the problem?

    Thanks in advance!
    Keith.

Probably a freeze somewhere along the line. Check the tank and it might make you wiser !:D

Sounds like your utility room is being fed from your water tank in the attic? I have a situation where the mains is frozen up so no cold water, i installed a loft en suite last year and have cold supply up there but on calling my Plumber he said its being fed from the tank. The real problem begins if your water tank empties. Also while i am on, i was advised i can still us my central heating system as long as there is water in the main tank but not to use it when this water runs out so caution to the wind.

Theres not much i can do until the mains supply pipe defrosts, just hoping its not going to lead to burst pipes!

As far as I know the utility is coming off the mains (have never heard the attic tank filling after using the utility sink). Also have the washing machine running fine - so looks like it is coming from the mains ok but not to the kitchen/upstairs

Have tried pouring water on the outside tap (other side of the kitchen wall) but no luck yet

Just curious, i know that any new plumbing additions to my humble cottage involved the plumber taking feeds off the water tank, i just thought your plumber may have done the same if your utility room was an addition?

It does appear your mains may be frozen, have you spoken to neighbours?

No water is still working fine in utility - going to run a hose from there to the attic to get water upstairs again

I'm guessing that the mains is coming into house - going up to attic, and then back to kitchen, and that the frozen pipe is in the attic.

Going to lash on the heat and leave the attic stairs down.

Mains generally go to the kitchen first, with a stopcock under the sink and then upstairs to the tank.
