318 door lock came off in my hand!

    so i was trying to get in my car and the the key was hard to get in... got it in eventually but when i tried to take it out it was stuck...

    so with a bit of shaking i managed to get it out barrel and all! now i cant open door!

    any way of getting into the car? i have no alarm central locking fob so thats a no!

    some presents in the car that i need to get out so i am in desperate need of help

    any ideas pls would be greatfully appreciated

    i know some cars have special little key for passenger door if theres no normal lock. have to remove small plastic cover

    so is the key stuck in the barrel cos its frozen?
    heat it up and remove it, heat the other side door lock with a hair dryer or similar and try that one.

    I think he pulled the lock out of the handle with the key. Sorry i'm no help!

    Almost done this myself. Was yanking at the door but it was frozen closed. After 5min of pouring hot water and yanking on the handle I realised the car was locked :o

    So obv you have no second key that you can use in the passenger door lock?? Failing that heat up the broken barrel and try remove the stuck key and use in passenger side..

    i had the complete opposite last week wit my 318is where i got the door open but it wouldnt close!!!

    Alot of cars these days do not have a key lock on the passenger door.

    99 and no passenger lock to tackle! locksmith the only way i think... cha ching! more money on the car that i hate more and more everyday!

    Sure the back seats dont go down? My 00 has 2 levers on the inside roof of the boot to release the back seats.

    you have to call locksmith anyway so...
    just call them and they will fix it

    Pretty normal in BMWs. Some have an opening but not wide enough to get through (for skis).
