Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Lads,

Ive made the decision to return to do a Postgrad (after toying with it for sometime as I have the means to do it in Sept). Ive been looking at doing a masters in the Electrical Engineering area. The few courses that jump out at me a those in the:

    Electrical Power Systems Engineering and:

    http://www.manchester.ac.uk/postgraduate/taughtdegrees/courses/fulltime/course/?code=07875&pg=2

    Electrical Energy Systems:

    http://courses.cardiff.ac.uk/postgraduate/1027.html

Both of which are accredited by the IET in the UK and both Manchester University and Cardiff are research colleges for the National Grid (only 8 in the UK AFAIK). Manchester had the largest research HV lab in the UK.

Im looking for a course that will provide a good theoretical education as well as one that will provide some good hands on experience (with lab work and experiments). Is there any other college courses that I should consider?
Any specialist area I should consider going into (ones likely to secure a job after I finish the course?)

Electrical power generation is the area that interests me most.

I have a general interest in renewable (wind turbines) energy.

My background is in the Electronics area (I have a 2.1 BSc and a PDip in Managment both from UL). I have 5 years professional experience with my current employer during which ive had some exposure to electrical eng in my employment (I have had to perform power load, thermal calculations for specs) wire equipment into single phase etc its more an IT role most of the time and i cant see myself doing it for another 5 year.!

    Cheers
