Apple warranty - how to check/use

How do you check if an iphone is still in warranty? I bought a 3gs second hand so im not sure if its still in warranty. The silent button is gone a bit dosgy and the phone keeps on vibrating so want to get it fixed if possible.

If it is still in warranty how do I go about getting it fixed?

Put your serial no into the apple support site,it'll tell you if you have any warrenty left and what options you have available.

Thanks. Just went through it there. Just to be sure I understand it right, after you fill out the service request forms apple will send out a box to my house and then I just send off the phone to apple in that box?

Put your serial number on https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do and should show the status. If it's under warranty they will send a courier to get it.

Just wondering how long it usually takes for the refurbished phone to be sent back? The courier picked up my one today. I'm thinking roughly a week and a half?
