Not too sure if this thread will work..but here goes..

Could this thread me used to update people on the trains and bus routes over the next few days.

Others can then search for their route and might benefit from it.( eg below people can search for route 36 )

If it is to be used i propose some sort of template to the thread can be searched.

    E.g

    Transport Provider:- Bus Eireann

    Router Number:- 36

    Route Travelled:- Dublin - Coleraine.

    Duration of travel:- 4.5 hours.

Misc Notes:- Got stuck in Armagh for ages.

    Over to you people...

    Transport Provider:- Iarnrod Eireann

    Router Number:- N/A

Route Travelled:- Dublin - Waterford (Got off in Carlow)

Duration of travel:- 110 mins. Usually takes 70/75.

Misc Notes:- About half the train had to stand. When you're waiting for the platform to be announced (because this train is never ready for boarding early ) stand in behind the glass doors so you're as close as possible. It's usually on platform 7/8 (the ones that you have to walk about four miles to get to) but not always, so don't bank on it. You'll need to move fast to get a seat.

Not exactly what you were looking for but it may be useful all the same.
    Irish Rail

Booking Intercity travel for 23rd-24th December:
Customers are advised that there is expected to be heavy demand on Intercity services on Thursday 23rd December and Friday 24th December.
Customers intending to travel on Intercity service should note the following:

    - Please book your travel on www.irishrail.ie if possible. We appreciate the online sales facility is extremely busy, so please be patient.

    - If the online allocation of tickets is sold out, please book on an alternative service.

    - If there are no online allocations available, please note that tickets will be sold at the train station, but that customers with bookings will be prioritised, with any remaining capacity made available for customers in stations.

    - Please arrive at your station early, and allow time to reach the station, taking into account the difficult road and footpath conditions which exist.

    - Please use all available ticket sales points at stations, including ticket office, and automatic ticket vending machines.

    - On board the train, please respect seat reservation notices, and do not sit in a seat which has been reserved by another customer.
    Thank you for your cooperation.

    safe trip home everybody.

    From RailUseIe on Twitter:

"Irish Rail has released extra seats to book online on intercity routes. Website slow, may take several attempts to enter reservation system"

No extras on the Connolly to Sligo route though, which is what I will be getting this evening.. oh well

Had planned on driving with my OH on Friday, but came up early by bus.

    Transport Provider:- Bus Eireann

Router Number:- 30 (left Dublin 9.40 or so)

    Route Travelled:- Dublin - Donegal

    Duration of travel:- 6.5 hours.

Misc Notes:- Got stuck in Enniskillen for ages - over an hour going in and out of the Ulsterbus station. Roads not bad at all (N3 - didn't stop in Cavan) except for just after Enniskillen where it was a little hairy, but mental traffic and slow drivers. Cannot praise the Bus Éireann drivers enough.

    Transport Provider:- Iarnrod Eireann

    Router Number:- N/A

Route Travelled:- Dublin - Rosslare Europort (Got off in Wexford )

Duration of travel:- 3.5/4 hours (not too bad, normally 2.5/3 hours)

Misc Notes:- Massive shame on Irish Rail. 2 days before Christmas, and the train had 3 carriages, typical Intercity trains have 4 or 6 carriages from past experience. We left people standing and not able to get on the train at Tara Street, Pearse Street, Dun Laoghaire and Bray. Was standing at the door, and the verbal abuse we received was incredible, please note, your gripe is with IT not me!!!!! Elderly people, pregant ladies all had to stand!
Advice is, do not worry about seat allocation, just get on as quick as possible to get a sea in any carriage!! According to Irish Rail, priority would be given to those booked in advance, complete bull****. All the IR staff were standing with their hands in the pockets laughing.
It was an absolute joke, am only glad I dont have to travel back with them, and sure as hell will not be travelling to Wexford with them again!!!
