Possible to stretch boots?

    I bought these http://www.uggaustralia.com/productDetails.aspx?gID=w&productID=5678&model=Kensington in UK 38.

I am usually a 5 or 6 and according to the label, these are UK 5.5

HOWEVER, they are really stiff at the ankles and torture to get on/off.

Read some reviews [2] on the Schuh website and it seems other people have had the same problem.

Is it just the make of shoe and should I get a size bigger? That may not even work.
Or is there a way to 'stretch' the leather at the ankles so that they're not as hard to get on/off??

Once I get them on, they're fine and not one bit tight, but it's the torture of getting them on or off that's turning me off them :(

Oh and on the UGGaustralia website it says they tend to run a size large and to order a half size down?!

If they don't hurt you and you're definitely going to keep them, maybe stuff them with newspaper! I would think that the leather and sheepskin would stretch. Don't Uggs kind of "mould" to your feet..?

    Thanks Twee.

See if I knew for certain they would stretch and not be as hard to get on/off, I would keep them and perservere, but I'm afraid that they won't and I'll be left with them. May ask the people in Schuh today to see what they suggest. Going from their website, many people have had this issue, so maybe it's the style.

Might just have to forego these ones and choose a different pair! :(

I got a pair of leather boots recently and they were the same...used to work up a sweat getting them on and off! Eventually after about a month they now slide on and off! stuff them with damp newpaper and leave near something warm so the paper swells. Helps the leather to stretch! :)

Roald Dahl said his dad used to put a plastic bag of water in the shoe he wanted to stretch and leave it in the freezer overnight.
    Haven't tried it myself though.

Lol at this one!!! Don't know if I'd be brave enough after all I spent on them!!!

Thanks Leah, some hope for me then!!! It's a real struggle gettin em on or off though, but it's just the ankle that causes difficulty. If I stuff them with newspaper though and they still don't stretch, could the seller still refuse to exchange them for me??!

Oh and would this damage the sheepskin lining??? !

I always buy my uggs a size smaller. The sheepskin inside will 'flatten' a bit.

If they aren't uncomfortable try wearing them around the house to break them in.

I bought Uggs which were a bit small around the ankle. I put a woollen wristband around my ankle every time I wore them and it stretched it out nicely. I see you bought Kensingtons, I tried them on before and also found them very small compared to the other Ugg boots in the range.

Thanks for the tip also. I'm wearing them around the house now! Can get them on in a few seconds, so hopefully they'll expand with time!!

They're just fabulous, and I love them, especially as they're not typical UGGs! It is however the most money I have EVER spent on a pair of boots/clothing [other than my debs dress!] but I'll have them for years! :)
