your going to need this cable to get it to work with your tv http://cgi.ebay.ie/HD-COMPONENT-AV-VIDEO-CABLE-NINTENDO-WII-/170580931114?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_205&hash=item27b76a722a#ht_955wt_1139

Does your TV not have the red, yellow, white sockets the wii comes with that cable in the box

They should be pretty freely available in any game shop, HMV, Argos or Xtravision.
Call ahead first to make sure they're in stock.

Be warned that you could be paying €30-ish for it, though.... (open to correction on that)

Edit: Not in Argos, just checked catalogue.

can i ask a similar - ish related question - arrived home down the country with wii in tow only to find new tv at home! and cant get my wii to work.....have to use the red/white/yellow cable in back of tv and best i can come up with is a fuzzy black and white picture when wii turned on. have tried every combination of putting them in the correct/and incorrect colours. not sure if i can "tune" the "fancy" tv......

No problem. First make sure you're plugging red into red, white into white, and yellow into yellow. :)

Check your TV remote for a "Mode" button, and change the Mode to "Video". You should find the Wii there.

If you had a Video recorder you could plug the Wii into the video recorder scart socket and then connect the video to your TV using analogue (an aerial lead)

That sounds odd! Surely every TV has scart? Have you not got NTL/Sky? They'd go into scart.

Unless you just have a computer monitor? Do you know the make and model of it?

Not sure why I'm even helping you after your previous posts, but you should try going into the Wii settings and changing the display to 576i rather than 480i, as your other TV most likely can't handle the 60hz signal that goes along with 480i...

most led tvs have a mini scart socket

you then need a normal scart (normal socket for nintendo scart plug ) to mini scart( to plug into tv ) adapter lead

was thinking that but we dont have one ,use my ps3 for blue rays and upc box to record stuff, i might just bring his tv down for the day ,bit crappy a brand new tv and a up to date console wont work on it ,im sure there is a connection i could use regarding the hdmi pc or usb inputs .

yep seen that , a tiny little socket on the back of it ,ill head down to Harvey Normans and pray that they have one , the bloody input was away from all the other inputs hidden under the tv , cheers for all the help guys.

Could you take photos for the connections on your TV, might give someone an idea?

Or just let us know what make and model TV it is :)
