Slippery conditions on premises

Just wondering what someone should do if they have a fall in a public place, like a shop or café, in which they hurt themselves but not seriously (in case there are unforeseen repercussions from the fall)? I'm wondering what the person and the owner should do to best cover themselves.

Also, given the current weather and slippy stairs in lots of places is there a particular onus on owners to do something about this within their own premises. Should there be wet floor signs? What if there are ineffective handrails on the stairs?

    Any thoughts?

There should be Wet Floor signs IF the owner/occupier knows of the wet floor.

There should be signs, there should be someone checking the floor every couple of minutes and mopping any excess water up straight away. If you want to be really safe then have someone standing there warning people about the floor as they come in. The judge will ask was there reasonable efforts made to prevent anyone from falling
