I've an m1911 and was just curious as to how I'd attach a silencer or noise amplifier?

You need to get this little barrel piece that screws into the front of your pistol that protrudes another set of threads on the outer side of this little barrel, which then fit most silencers with the correct thread direction. It's probably called a 1991 silencer adaptor...
I could be wrong... am tired!

The Joker made a few of those adapters that you are looking for a while back for the 1911 series of pistols
It may be worth your while sending him a PM

I actually saw that and wondered if it was what I was looking for. Would it definitely work because the outer barrel slides back a bit when you pull back the slide. There's very little allowance for something to fit between the inside of the outer barrel and the outside of the inner barrel. Thanks for the help by the way

I forgot to mention the little adapter thing comes in both
clockwise and anti-clockwise versions and will be useless to you unless your Barell is actually threaded to accept one.
would not worry about a little play or movement of the outer when you rack the slide.
If the inside of the outer barrel looks similar to this your in luck:

It's exactly like that but it's just when I slide it back the inner barrel is pushed into it so I'm afraid there won't be room.

There is. I have one, and the a WE MEU. The barrel slides into the adapter, as the adapter is just like an extended outer barrel :)

So it's definitely the "MP5" adaptor that I need?
