Fluoride in Water Linked to Lower IQ in Children

Exposure to fluoride may lower children's intelligence says a study pre-published in Environmental Health Perspectives, a publication of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (online December 17, 2010).
Fluoride is added to 70% of U.S. public drinking water supplies.
According to Paul Connett, Ph.D., director of the Fluoride Action Network, "This is the 24th study that has found this association, but this study is stronger than the rest because the authors have controlled for key confounding variables and in addition to correlating lowered IQ with levels of fluoride in the water, the authors found a correlation between lowered IQ and fluoride levels in children's blood. This brings us closer to a cause and effect relationship between fluoride exposure and brain damage in children."

Can't say I support the idea of fluoride in the water. there is more than enough in toothpaste. The old argument that our teeth will fall out otherwise just doesn't cut it anymore IMO.

Although is does explain the popularity of X-Factor... :p

With all this fouride talk had made me think that there are a lot of crazies about these days and that it could be related

"oh no I think I've become one of them"

International coalition dedicated to raising awareness of the health effects of fluoride ingestion produces paper showing negative effects of fluoridation of water on kids, didn't see that one coming. :)

The study seems extremely odd anyway, taking the two focus groups from two different regions introduces a wide range of other issues when examining IQ levels. One need only look at the difference in the "mental retardation" figures to see something was up.

Well at least we'll all have nice teeth!
And dentists will be out of business.
And most of us will be smarter by comparison.

Hmmm... an american study yet they tested it on 512 kids in China.

So this study basically concluded its ok to use Chineese as lab rats and thats about it

512 is not a big enough group to prove anything

Increase in water fluoridisation causes global warming (only statistically.) :)

I found a link between conspiracy theories and lower IQ's.

So that's lowers IQ as well as causes bone cancer, kidney damage, liver failure and asthma.........these terrorists are really missing a trick with their sarin gas and anthrax, fluoride is where the chemical warfare's at. Amateurs.

Nah but I would be in favour of discontinuing the fluoridation of the water supply. Mainly because it's just a pointless waste of money and resources. No need for it. Brush your teeth. Use toothpaste when you do. Problem solved. If you don't and lose teeth, tough sh1t.

    lowers IQ as well

does freezing the water before consuming kill off the flouride bugs, per chance.

Lads, what happens if it's eventually discovered that fluoridation of water causes delusional paranoia?

Will all these cranks then be vindicated??

    My head hurts...

And yet a survey of 1000 people is enough to tell us people are in support of the IMF/EU bailout, and are happy with the FF regime
