Modern Nissan Navara questions

Although our Landcruiser is tough to beat, we have an old 99 Nissan Pathfinder pickup (called Navara now).

It is a true workhorse with 150,000 rough miles on it. It has been everywhere, on building sites that a friends Hilux couldn't get through, fields and these current snowy roads.

It has a lot of ground clearance (no girly side steps or running boards that ruin clearance) and skinny tyres that really grip thru the snow.

It also has the manual locking hubs on the wheels (a pain to get out and turn, but absolutely bulletproof).

It is absolutely the most abused vehicle we have ever had, but keeps on going.

My question is - are the newer 2008+ Navaras as tough as boots? Any reliability issues to be aware of (I have read horror stories of Nissan injectors failing).

Finally are they still available with manual locking hubs?

no you can't get them with manual hubs, the have a electric switch system now. They seem to be a good reliable truck, but do have issues with dual mass fly wheels and clutches. have a look at www.nissan-navara.net you need to register to see any info but its free and a great forum

the auto is the best choice in the new d40 navara, clutch and flywheel problems are very common on the manual version, aside from that their pretty reliable , have a look at the d-max aswell, no real problems thusfar

I was commercial sales manager for a nissan company and even though the Narava has more bhp than most rivals is has alot of fuel pump and injector rail problems. My own sister in law Got a Pathfinder which has the same engine (2.5) and after 3 years is in the process of taking nissan to court over it. As i said she has had it 3 years and it has spent at least 2 years in the nissan garage. Stay away from them. The Hilux is by far a more bullet proof Machine.

    +1

I've heard that the 2.5 engine is a disaster reliability wise
