    Ok,

    I have 2 issues:

1: All water coming into the house is gone so pipes are frozen the last few days.

2: Oil boiler kicks in and after 5 minutes it stops, the reset light is not lighting up so its not an airlock. Only put oil in again yesterday. No heat in any of the rads etc.
Is there anything I can do to get it going myself?

    Jonny.

    Jonny,

The water in your boiler loop may be frozen and so the boiler is going out on over-temp within itself. Could you crack (slightly open) the pipe at the central heating circulation pump to see if the loop is frozen or if there are isolation valves either side of the pump, try to open and close them. If you can't open and close them, the loop is frozen...

I presume you don't have access to the pipework to try to thaw it out....

Have you any diagrams of an example of a boiler system with the valves etc? This is the first time I have had oil so not sure what I am to be loking at....
Would it be worth getting the mamangement company out to sort the problem out?

    Jonny,

No diagram. There should be a circulation pump near the boiler itself. There should be (but may not be if they went cheap on the install).

Basically you are trying to determine if the water from/to the boiler is frozen. Try tapping the pipe with something metal and you may be able to tell by the sound it makes if it is frozen.

Have you checked is the contact on the stat/timer 'calling' for the boiler. i.e. is there voltage being sent down to the boiler from the timer/stat.

If there is, and the burner reset is not working, then there may be a fault with the burner..

Is the stat on the boiler turned way down by accident??

Boilers are pretty simple appliances. Give them power and they run...

Yeah I was out at the boiler and got it switched on while I was there, you can hear it kicking in but its not flaming up.
The thermostat is about 3/4's full power.

If there is not an airlock and the stat is calling the boiler and the burner does not need to be reset then it sounds like a burner problem.

    Get someone in to fix.

Try resetting the high limit stat on the boiler. Chances are, its tripped

    Hi Jonny24,
We have exact same problem. No water since monday morning and now our boiler fires up and then switches off after a few mins. It was grand last night heating the house but now nothing. We're at a total loss too!
