I would imagine the dublin-derry bus eireann would be your best bet. Pretty sure it goes through ardee. The hospital is only a short walk out the kells road.

Check out http://www.collinscoaches.ie, they'll get you to Ardee. The hospital isn't too far outside the town, can be walked to or you can get a local taxi.

would like to write a follow up post on this one.

the roads were very bad today.

i missed the 11am bus to Ardee by Collins (my fault, did not expect that it took me 1 hour to town today). so i got on the 1pm Buseiranne one and got off the Ardee by-pass at 230pm. walked for nearly half hour to st.brigit's. was nearly an hour late for my job.

then, wanted to get the 445pm Collins in Ardee town back to dublin. i waited till 520pm. asked for the nice spar staff for the Collins phone number and called. was told the lastest to dublin was 3pm... tears near dropped.

then was told by the nice staff to wait for the Buseirranne. My hope was on again... i did not know there was evening bus back to Dublin from Ardee. so, i walked to the bus stop outside the newsagent. the staff in the newsagent again was very nice and told me the time. there was one at 1755pm and the last one 1810pm. i waited till 1820pm, no sign. i went back to the newsagent with frozen fingers and toes and runny nose, started weeping... he told me the buses might have been cancelled although he did not notice on the radio. he said my last bet was to go to the Ardee by-pass and get on any Buseiranne buses that pass by...

i really wanted to get back home! i asked two people for the direction to the by-pass (which i could not recognise anymore at night time). the sign on the bus stop told me i missed one and the other one if it came, it would be 2055pm. i made the phone call to Buseiranne (the number printed on the sign) wanted to make sure there would be buses pass-by to Dublin... well, i was directed to a voice message telling me that they were off and no updated information available.

at this point, i just could not stop crying. but nothing i could do and i did not want to die in the coldness at the bus stop, so i started walk back to town.

then, a truck came. the driver got off and did his business. i ran back and i asked whether they were going to Dublin and could they give me a lift. the driver let me on. and i was back to Dublin at 830pm.

thanks for the kindness from these two Irish guys. also the nice staff in Ardee spar and Ardee Susie Newsagent. Irish people are very nice! I told the truck driver that what they did gave Irish people a good name. the driver said he would buy a lotto now and i wish they can win the lotto this week. ;)

Sorry to hear about the bad experience, sounds like you had an awful time!

By the Ardee bypass, do you mean the N33 that links Ardee with the M1?

that's alrite now. and it was fun. at least i was lucky to meet nice people helping me out and the truck drivers are really heaven sent. my friend was a bit worried about me getting on a truck... but i knew they were nice people. and it was not late night.

i am not sure about the by-pass. i walked from Ardee town, passed a small roundabout and then the big roundabout and then on the way to M1, there is the bus stop to Dublin. there is another bus stop opposite it.

hope this help you locate it...

    Merry Christmas!
