MODS, can you add the poll option "Neither", as I can't seem to do it.

    Thanks.

I voted “Neither” for several reasons, the simplest being that I don’t believe a combination of the reduced hunting activity, i.e. a lot of lads not going out in the cold, and the severe weather conditions, during this years season, would produce a dangerous increase to the average number of birds or deer being killed during the open season. Therefore, in my opinion there is no need for a ban. If figures can be produced to show different I would consider a change of opinion.

Sure the poll makes no sense. Should be yes or no answer against each species & hunter yes no against each.
    I.e
    Pheasant ban yes as hunter
    Pheasant ban no as hunter
Pheasant ban yes as non hunter
Pheasant ban no as non hunter
    Etc etc

I also think this should be split into 5 categories with the above applied if possible to have a few polls on the one graph as a good feel for the general concensus.
    Species added;
    > Pheasants (Released & Wild as same thing - would be very few there unless lads were breeding & releasing them IMO)
    > Native Ducks, Geese etc
    > Migratory Ducks & Waders (Snipe, woodock etc)
    > Deer
    > Vermin
That would put 20 line items on the poll & if you could vote for multiples it would be great...

These polls should show who voted for what that way you can to within reason work out some accuracy, no point having this topic voted on by anti hunting people, they are only to happy to throw a spanner in the works and get their kicks in doing so

These voting things should be there for people who actually know what they are talking about voice an educated opinion ! after all its the hunting people who have to go out in the cold and do it and see exactly what the actual condition of these species are. just my opinon. Also this weather is not severe by any stretch. its a bit of snow and some minus temps. no big deal.

It's also not accurate enough. "Birds" is one thing, but I'd personally see a difference between pheasants/pigeons.partridges/duck (Where there's open water) and struggling migratory waders, so it would be much more effective in my mind to ban shooting only of those species actually threatened by the weather. We need to be looking at somewhere like France or Germany, where this weather in commonplace in winter, and see how they respond, and adjust for our own subtleties (such as our migratory waders).

Just after shooting a magpie in the field behind the house.
It was eating the Bunny I had shot last night :D

Magpies are attacking all the songbirds I am feeding in the Garden.

Most hunters have a soft side :D

I agree with all the above. Another line that should be added is should there be a nationwide ban or a ban restricted to areas only severely affected by the bad weather. There are many areas not affected badly by this bad weather but now shooting is banned for all.

That would be more accurate allright but unfortunatly I can't edit the poll.

Few weeks ago when the snow had just started I shot a fox within 40 yards of my back door (came charging in to a squeeky dog toy). Next day I shot 2 greys and 2 mags coming to the blood on the snow.

Also a couple of weeks ago I watcched a magpie killing a hen blackbird, killed it peck by peck as it tried to flutter away.

i have been out every morning after foxes with the rifle and larsen traps with good results but every where i go there is lads still off shooting game another argument u mite say yes but if us lads that are out feeding these birds and other lads that arnt in the gun clubs(and lads that are)still off we should still be left hunt we can take it on ourselves to squeeze that trigger or not any birds im seeing are all healthy so why not use our own discression at least we could keep our eyes on the lads that are shooting the birds on us

I voted same. there are lots of birds on one of my permissions, i am the only one who shoots there so the birds seem to do well as no one is shooting them and any i have seen look very healthy
