Just wondering if anybody has been there skiing before? I’m living in Malaga province and have been there a few times in the summer (but the other side of the mountains, not the skiing area) and just wondering if others have been and what they thought of it. My colleagues seem to just go on day trips, but that involves getting up at 5.30 in the morning to get a proper day skiing, and I’m not really into that. Plus, they CAN ski. It’s been almost 3 years since the last time I was skiing, so I’d like to take lessons again as I’m probably back to beginner standard.
I heard that the slopes are really busy at the weekend but Gibraltarians have a habit of exaggerating everything when it comes to Spain.
So, to cut it short, am just wondering if the lessons are any good, and if there is any decent accommodation near the slopes, or we will have to travel each day from somewhere a bit lower.

I was there around 15 years ago. Really enjoyed it but it was my first ski trip so I couldn't really say how it rates compared to other places. We must have gone late cos I remember skiing in a t-shirt it was so warm. There was also lots and lots of artificial snow which now would be a real downside for me but I'm sure that isn't a problem at the moment.

As per your questions I'm sure the standards of accomodation and instructing are as good as anywhere. Its a full standard resprt which hosted the world championships one year, so I wouldn't worry about it being some kind of novelty place or anything like that.

I'd get up there and enjoy it as often as you can if I were you.

Was there about 3 years ago for a long weekend. If the weather is right it is a fantastic place!

Had a huge updgrade about 8/9 years ago for the world championships and the skiing is quite varied and really cool to be able to ski and look over the Med.

It is quite prone to high winds and closures so I would keep an eye on the weather. Lift passes are good value thouhg

I lived in Malaga for a year in 2005/2006 and I went to Sierra Nevada almost every weekend. Its a great little place, its small in comparison to the Alps but it has everything you want. Be careful if you are going in March/April as the sun gets really hot - got very badly burnt there in March a few years ago.

Also keep an eye on the weather as if the wind is high they tend to close parts of it.
