    Hi Folks,

I'm thinking of looking for work as a delivery driver for dominos/pizza hut/apache etc but just wondering if anyone else has done this sort of work before? There's a few questions i have about this and i'd appreciate it if anyone could clarify some of them:

    1. Is the pay any good?
    2. Does anyone know if any places are hiring now?
    3. What would be the pros and cons (do you think its worth looking for something like this?)

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to fill me in a little here!
    Cheers

I don't have personal experience of this, but my friend was doing it for a while. Basically, there is no 'set' way for it to run, as each pizzahut/dominos is a franchise, so it depends on the franchisee and manager for each store.
but my friend was messed around quite a bit - left waiting on wages, told it would be paid to account on x date, but a week later it still hadn't been lodged, getting post dated cheques when they did get paid, trouble getting hours when they wanted them, and then trouble getting time off when needed! plus because of where they were working they got a bit of hassle as well when delivering, my friend thankfully was never robbed, but was definitely intimidated. others were robbed or got called out a lot for bogus calls.

so its swings and roundabouts - it depends on which branch you work for. perhaps post in the local forum for your area and someone who actually works in that locality might have info?

also remember, work like this will affect your car insurance. you are supposed to declare it as you are using the car in a work capacity. lots of people don't tell the insurance of this, but if you were to have an accident they could refuse to pay out, so that is something to consider also.

Its a cash in hand job where your ment to declare tax on your own

As said previously any crashes can be suspect regarding claiming for a crash.

Wages are paid on a per hour basis normally 5.50 and then 1.50 per delivery where you would normally have 2 delieverys per hour upto 4/5 deliverys depending on circumstances. I know the delivery service where you are certain to get messed around (is that a hut over there? in the west) regarding wages!

Hours are normally evenings 6-12/1. With sunday being the busiest day of the week!!

If you are fast, and know your way around, on a good night expect 60 to 80 euro including tips.

I did it years ago around dun laoighaire and made very good money.
