    Are socks classified as 'clothes'?

If they are, then the answer to your question is yes.

Well you seem to come through it with a happy enough attitude.

I used to absolutely hate it...

...but its ok now since my uncle stopped buying me crotchless edible panties!

can't even get clothes i want from irish stores myself; sure don't expect anyone else to.. if it weren't for the internet i'd probs be in a shellsuit

I hate it because if it's something you wouldn't have picked yourself then you won't wear it and be guilt tripped about it for months constantly being asked "Why do you never wear the thing I got you?"

I ended up getting clothes for Xmas but I chose them myself! I can't stand people buying me clothes without telling me what they are!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,713 ✭✭✭✭Novella

I love clothes, but I'd prefer if someone just gave me a voucher for a clothes shop and let me choose... Unless I'd pointed something out, said I'd liked it, then it'd be fine. My mam bought me a coat and a pair of boots last year and that was fine 'cause we often look at websites together and I'll show her things I like to get her opinion.

I'd never buy clothes for someone unless I was 100% positive it was something they really wanted.

Doesn't really bother me. I've no real fashion sense so I'm rubbish at buying my own clothes!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,494 ✭✭✭citizen_p

i dont mind, unless its somthing stupid like socks. usually the people who would buy me clothes (brothers/sisters) have a good idea of what i would wear.

i hate surprise and crappy little items that i wont use.

I love getting clothes for Christmas. And I'm usually a negative, miserable bastard. I like it because I usually get stuff I would never think of buying for myself because I think it would look odd - or stupid. But then I'm proved wrong, it looks good and I'm really happy because not only do I have a nice gift but I've learnt a little about what looks good on me from someone who actually cares enough to consider such things.

Yes! They never get the right size or something that fits my "style". Would make more sense to just give a gift card since if I don't like something I'm not going to wear it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,593 ✭✭✭Sea Sharp

Nope, I refrain from buying new clothes in November and December in anticipation of my x-mas pressies.
Clothes, booze or lynx sets. What more could you ask for. :)

I've also found that a woman buying clothes for a man is OK but a man buying clothes for a woman for Christmas is a disaster waiting to happen. :(

I used to hate it as a kid, getting handed a present that was all soft you knew what was coming. nowadays i don't buy clothes, i get my years supply every christmas. usually about september i start working in my 'new' jumper and jeans, more on the way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,739 ✭✭✭✭kylith

I like getting presents of socks because I never seem to have enough!

My Nanny bought me a slip when I was about 7. That was Not Cool.

i haven't bought anything but jeans boots and jackets since '92 so i reckon its a good thing

As a kid I hated getting clothes as I always wanted toys now I am lucky to get anything. My ex works in a hardware and I still get the odd Snickers work wear.
