Hopefully this is the right forum. Appreciate any feedback you guys have.

I have a flight at 6am tomorrow morning. Dublin Airport is saying they're closed till 8am in the morning, while Ryanair are saying they're going to update there website at 8am too. So does that mean I should be there for 8am to see if I can get another flight or just check ryanair.com and dublin airport at 8am to see if flight is a) cancelled or b) delayed.

Don't want to be a burden and make a journey for nothing if we're not going to make the flight.

A little hard to find out what the best course of action is! Thanks guys!

I could be way off with this.. but I'm guessing the majority (if not all) flights until 8am tomorrow morning will be cancelled.

I'm in the same boat. the DAA have not listed my flight at 6.50am tomorrow morning as cancelled yet they claim the airport is only open at 8am EARLIERST! I hope they keep the website up to date as if they don't say that flight is cancelled and it is I will be mad to say the least!

anyone know how accurate they are with their site info? Aerlingus also list the flight as "on time" I understand if it is canelled I'd just like to know is all.

I just can't see them running through a backlog of the morning flights from 8am.. any flights from 8am onwards will be either delayed or leave. But I could be wrong!

I mean they were encouraging people whose flights were cancelled to go home / to a PC terminal and re-book. If your flight is cancelled, I can't see it being easy to get a flight in the next 36 - 48 hours minimum.

My parents were meant to go to Lisbon to spend Christmas with my brother. Their flight was at 3.30pm today. Their flight was cancelled and the next available flight was Sunday! :( They booked a flight flying to Faro out of Cork tomorrow, so here's hoping they've more luck.

    Best of luck guys!

    true enough :(

I still notice they are actually updating flights for tomorrow morning pre 8am.

consequently, Ryanair have said only people with confirmed flights for after 8am should go to the airport so I think you are defo out of luck Stakey - whereas I seem to be only 99.9999% out of luck :/

    somewhat frequent updates here: http://twitter.com/dublinairport

I'm in the exact same situation, I don't have a clue what to do, if I go ahead at least I might be able to get on to another flight but it could just be a complete waste of money.

At least if Ryanair had posted information on tomorrow mornings flights I could rebook or something. My bet is the flight is cancelled, they wouldn't expect someone to sit by their computer at 8am only to leg it to a flight delayed until 9.

Is there someone we can ring? Ryanairs site seems to be specifically designed to direct you as far away from contact information as possible!

When Ryanair cancel a flight, as all tomorrows before 8 am have been, you take your place on the next flight to the same destination, if there are seats. I bet that all flights for tomorrow are fully booked,

so if you are going to somewhere with many daily flights you may get away.e.g Stansted.S ince I believe that all tomorrows Stansted flights would have been fully booked , the computer cannot tonight allocate you a seat on a later flight tomorrow but if you are there at the airport you may get on a flight that day.

clearly this will not be of any use to those who are flying to a once a day or twice a day destination.

there will also be many who will be unable to reach the airport for the flights they have booked, so spaces will exist. many others will have given up their travel plans .

I am in France and have a ticket ex Charleroi for thurs am. this mornings flight ex Croi (tuesday) flew to dublin and back. This evenings was cancelled as dublin was closed, tomorow mornings will be cancelled I believe for the same reason. it would be landing in Dublin(normally) before 8 am.

So, to conclude, if your cancelled flight has others to the same destination tomorrow,it MAY be worth being in the airport. If the same destination had been cancelled toay(and it must have) there may be people there already who have nowhere to return to,they will be ahead of you in the queue.

I think all the above is correct, but dont take it for granted

    regards Rugbyman

I presume you're on the same Glasgow flight we're on. Unless we hear from them beforehand we're heading there for 6 for a flight that definitely won't leave til at least 2 hours later if even then. Annoying. The 0818 number for AL won't be manned until 9am tomorrow...

If you intend to make a claim against travel insurance for cancelled flights then you should go to the airport as this would support your claim.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,943 ✭✭✭wonderfulname

Why make a claim when the airlines are behaving perfectly well? My flight was cancelled, but I was given the option to rebook at no extra charge - no problem!

Why would this support the claim? If the flight is canceled, surely doesn't matter if you're not physically at the airport.

Claim for the missed flights due to the connecting flight being canceled.

A friend hoped to travel this morning Ryanair 06:45 Dublin - Riga. She boarded around 07:00 and after over 5 hours on the tarmac, waiting for de-icing, the flight was cancelled.

    Bit of a similar-ish situation/question myself...

I have flights to liverpool booked for around midday in monday, this is an original booking, not rescheduled or anything.
How does this backlog of flights work!is there a good chance my flight will be delayed trying to clear the backlog of missed flights in the last few days or do flights scheduled take priority?
In other words,if the weather/thaw doesnt kick in am i wasting my time travelling from galway early on monday morning for a flight that just might not happen?
