Has anyone on here ever made a successful complaint to the law society?

My parents solicitor was handling a property sale and purchase and instead of paying the stamp duty and registering the sale he kept the money in his account for over a month. They made a complaint to the society and the stamp duty was paid.

interesting. I wsn't sure if they actually sided with the clients often. I have read before that they can be terribly protective of solicitors. I am not sure whether to submit a complaint or not, i have it all written but I wonder if there could be negative repercussions. The complains is very complicated and has many aspects but basically i have a complaint about a solicitor taking advantage of my granny, it was all very well covered up, and i'm afraid it will do likewise to other vulnerable old people.

Was the solicitor reprimanded or were you told if any disciplinary action had been taken against him?

An archived search on the Irish Times website will furnish you with multiple references in more detail than you'll find here...

As far as I know there are numerous successful complaints made against solicitors every month. At least that's the impression I get from the publication of notices in each edition of the Law Society Gazette, available in many news-agents including Eason's.

Yep. The complaints may take a while to investigate, based on the merits of the claim and the cooperation/noncooperation of the respondent solicitor, but they are all followed up.

hi i am in the middle of a complaint at the moment they are mediating but i have asked them to intervent because the solicitor I am dealing it with some piece of work and I am simply not able for him.. he knows all the tricks in the book and is actually trying to make me feel guilty for complaining him..
At the end of the day. they are no better than common criminals and governed by their own kind so it s difficult to get real justice
hopefully I will have a successful complaint but its difficult to say now!!
