Water Dripping Sound in the Wall when GFCH turned on

    Hi,

I have an interesting thing happening here that I can't understand.

Whenever I switch on the GFCH, I hear a water dripping sound in one walls of the living room. It starts as if someone is pouring a glass of water and fades to a few drops and then goes away. Then it comes back in about 2 minutes and repeats the sound.

I have no visible sign of water on either side of the plasterboard wall.

Someone I was talking to said it is the pipes expanding and contracting that make the sound - I disagree.

The sound is loud and annoying. Anyone knows what this might be? Appreciate any help on this issue as I want to get this sorted ASAP.

    Rahul

is your system pressurised? if so whats the gauge set to?

Just went in to check the meter in the hot press. The black needle is pointing to '2' ... there is another meter on the boiler which is pointing to '2' at the moment but it goes up and down.

PS: This is all too technical for me, please let me know if what I am saying makes sense

no that makes sense, at least you can tell from that you're system isn't (or shouldn't be) leaking/dripping inside the wall. I expect the noise you are hearing is some sort of air moving about in the system. If you had a leak then the pressure would slowly be dropping down to 0.

Is their a way to get rid of air in the system that you know of. this sound is really annoying. I am sitting here and I can hear it while watching TV .. grr :D

it should eventually work its way out to an automatic airvent (if fitted), then the pressure may drop if the air has escaped
