    Budget: up to around 2000

    Intended use:
Both work and leisure - basically office laptop + home PLUS I travel a fair amount so am looking for something to be a major relief for my back. All in all, that means a full-power ultraportable that has decent battery life but with a screen thats 13" or around that. The best of everything really?!
Not intended for games but for heavy-duty simultaneous mail, pdfs, multiple browsers+tabs, music, etc. etc. It might sound like I don't need a very fast machine, and that's somewhat true but I want a genuine speed upgrade to the PC can multi-task and keep up with me. I also want the power so it'll have a fast-load time, fast-awake and be able to handle some large files within a fairly packed hard-drive.

Mobility: As above, I want a very slim and light laptop but as my main computer, therefore not with a tiny screen. I'd like the option of a standard and long-lasting battery option as I end up sitting in airports a good bit.

    Warranty: Whatever.

What Operating System do you use?
99% sure it's going to be Win7, although I have found myself looking at MBA and MBP a bit just to compare. All of our work is windows so I have to keep reminding myself!

All in all this got me to the Vaio Z - seems to be one of the highest-spec laptops out there with fast-load times, decent battery but ok screen at the same time, replaceable battery, etc. The Vaio X originally caught my eye but the screen is just too small. I realise the Z is pricey but that's still within budget.

Looked at the Dell Adamo XPS and the ASUS UL80Vt, as well as a Lenovo Thinkpad, but wasn't totally convinced. Any other suggestions?

Q: given you can customize the Z - I gather if I get greedy and go for the i7 version rather than i5 I will automatically cut the battery life further. Am I correct?

Open to suggestions! Thanks in advance!
