Pollyanna?

Has anyone else noticed that the name 'Pollyanna' gets used a lot on RTE? For example it was said on last night's Frontline. Another word they use on other shows is 'Pollyannaish'. Why is this? The only famous Pollyanna was the '60s movie with Hayley Mills but I doubt too many have seen it. Any other explanations?

it's the 1913 novel, where Pollyanna is a ridiculously optimistic person

It's a fairly common term for describing an unrealistically optimistic attitude.
