Anyone know what the deal is with these? How serious are we talkin?
I have a lousy attendance record on one of my tutorials but everything else is top notch. How severe are they likely to be or is it possible to work it out with them? A little worried here...

AFAIK the first is just a warning, but if you get another they may stop you from sitting your exams -depending on how strict the department is. Probably best to contact your tutor anyway, and the lecturer whose course you got the NS from.

It's basically a slap on the wrist, go see your tutor just in case.

I got an email about that today aswell. I think it has to be about tutorial attendance because i'm in the same boat as yourself! Hope its just a warning!

Hey!!! What the hell happened both my posts??? Fascism! Censorship! Death to the tyrants!

I smell an SU plot of epic proportions here.

I was a bit worried about this myself. Would this be noted in your academic record?

It does go on your record. It is likely to appear on any grade transcript for the year in question. You may be refused permission to sit the annual exams and if it comes down to a borderline pass/fail pass/honours you will not be given the benefit of the doubt. Note also certain courses require a pass in both the exam and tutorial work, check course handbook

Several courses are considered professional courses (Engineering, Dentistry, Medicine etc) and an NS there is serious

Its no laughing matter, its quite a lot of hassle to actually issue a NS and is not taken lightly.

As others have said, talk to tutor and show up at all tutorials from now on
