Gas heating stopped working

The gas boiler just stopped working, ive had it set on timer, with it coming on periodically 24/7 to stop any more pipes freezing.

Ive reset it, and it seems to be working again, but im worried about why it stopped, as its located on the same exterior wall in the utility room where ive lost hot and cold water yesterday(still have cold mains in the kitchen a few yards away)

Is it possible that some pipes leading into the boiler could have frozen?

Im having a fcuking panic here that the whole thing might explode!

Its happened again. It switches off, and the red light comes on, and the display has a flashing 03.
Its a Mynute 28 if that helps anyone?

Im leaving it for 2mins now and going to try and reset it again.

Is this just a cold weather issue?

The pressure gauge is at 0.5, it never stays any higher, even after its been serviced and set to 1-1.5, within a few days its back down at 0.5, but functions perfectly, this is the first time this has happened in the year we've been in the house.

    Anyone any ideas?

If i lose my heat im fcuked, as all the heat in the house is gas, we have no open fire, nothing!
God i hate the fcuking weather!!!:mad:

    few questions

where is your gas boiler? is it outside? garage? cold utility area? kitchen?

when was it last running properly?

are u on a gas meter? if yes have u money in the meter?

Just sorted out my gas boiler. Condensate outlet pipe had frozen. I was going to try and defrost the outlet pipe (outside the house running to the drain) by pouring warm (not boiling!) water on the pipe, but instead pulled the rubber house out from the condensate pipe under the boiler. Loads of water poured out as pipe was frozen further down outside. So I put a bucket under it, then reset it and hey presto. Will get the frozen pipe sorted tomorrow.

    If it's a Vokera 28e. I think fault code 03 is a flue problem.
(Possibly fan/ venturi issue) It monitors theair flow pressure through the combustion and flue.

Call a boiler engineer. The inside of boiler probably needs servicing.

Gas boiler is in the utility room, cold room, and its on the exterior wall, with a vent right beside it blowing in artic air!

It was running fine up until today at 12pm, and last night was the first night i set it to come on and off every few hours to keep the house heated, could this be the problem? its not used to being fired up so often?

Should i leave it on constant on or push all the teeth on the timer in? (is Constant On different to Timer On?-ie is it firing all the time on Constant? And wasting gas? Clueless!:o

No gas meter, bills paid. ;)

Yes, this is the code thats coming up, and i found the manual and it says Flu issue-call an engineer. Great, like thats gonna be easy right now.

Any know what exactly the problem is? Where is the flu? Is it the pipe carrying the fumes outside?
    (I swear, im not blonde.....:o )

Flue is the white circular pipe coming out the top of your boiler.
It is a pipe within pipe.
The external section brings in fresh air and the internal section expells the fumes from your boiler.
The elctronics in the boiler ensures that the pressure in thes pipes are ok.
If there is a blockage or poor pressure the boiler shuts down.

To check the flue and pressure switches you need to open up the boiler. ( only a registered gas technician RGII can carryout works on a natural gas appliance).
All you can do is visually check the flue otside to make sure there are no blockages or restrictions.

There was a bit of ice around the outside or it, so i removed that, and a huge stream of ice running down the wall too, i'll tackle that tomorrow.

Jaysus lads, what the hell are we gonna do if this is what we can expect for the next 30/40 years!!:eek:

    I think you're spot on!

I know if i ever build a house down the line, there is gonna be major insulation, pipes buried as deep as they can go, and wood burning stoves in every room! :D
