Returning car to dealer

I was recently sold a dodgy car by a dealer, and I had to sue him to get my money back. Anyway he decided to settle out of court and after several months I finally got my money back..

My questions are on returning the car to him. Ideally he'd sign the relevant portion of the logbook, which I would then send to the vehicle licensing place in Shannon (so ownership would be transferred to him).

But I can foresee a situation, where as a dealer, he would just want to take the logbook, and not sign anything to accept ownership.

If the latter situation came to pass when I go to return the car, any ideas what I should do?

    Many thanks
    p

Get him to sign a delivery receipt for it?

Yea thanks... my solicitor suggested getting a receipt for the logbook... so definitely plan to do that.

My concern though is that if he doesn't want to sign the bit of the logbook which I (as the owner) am supposed to send to the department of transport to transfer ownership, then the car stays in my name (until the dealer sells it on to someone else). This wouldn't be good.

Just found the answer on citizensinformation.ie

"If you sell your vehicle to a motor dealer, you need to complete a RF 200 form and bring or send it to your local Motor Taxation Office. The Log Book does not accompany this, as you have to give the Log Book to the motor dealer at the time of selling".
