Hi I am an intern working in Ireland. I'm about to finish my internship in July and I'm interested in working in the UK (medicine or GP) after my internship. I know the UK has a 2 year internship programme (foundation year 1 and 2) whereas Ireland has a 1 yr internship programme. Would I need to do a foundation year 2 post in the UK or can I move straight on to a SHO post? Would it be best to apply for jobs through a locum agency first or should I straightaway apply for the UK schemes? I would like to know if there are any doctors in Ireland who went to the UK after their internship and any advice given would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
