Well, things have moved a bit faster than I thought. I did a phone interview for a place in melbourne last night and they made an offer a few hours later and will handle the visa process etc.

It's all a bit real now and I could be looking at moving over there by Feb.

I'm 35, single, without kids and the only thing keeping me here is friends and amazing family. This is a tough decision but it's one I'm probably going to take in favour of leaving.

I suppose I'm posting this because I'm a bit shell shocked. Does anyone have any decent advice for me? I'll need to find a place to live, new friends etc :)

EDIT: oops wrong sub forum! Please move at earliest mods! Thanks.

Fair play to you. I had often thought about what the procedure would be to get hired from Ireland. Seems it would be "if we can't hire an Aussie to do the same job". You are a man/woman in demand....

I have a mate over there (visiting in January) and my sister moves there for 3 years in march.

It's a great city by all accounts. There are loads of Irish people, whether that's a good or bad thing. It's supposed to be a great, young, vibrant city.

If the job suits you, go for it!
