Where should I look? Preferably plain ones too, and not ones that make you look like a cat (these are the only ones I've come across as of yet :D)

I went in to Accessorize but wasn't mad about the look of some of them there, don't fancy getting one with a bobble on top!

You're wasting your money buying one now as the weather is expected to get much warmer over the xmas weekend. You won't need a hat.

I am also looking for a hat like OP describes. An ear-trapper, but in a plain colour (preferably black or grey for me) that's reasonably priced. I saw one in A|Wear in Henry St the other day and it was priced at €15 - no way was I willing to pay that price for a hat, I went into Dunnes Stores (also on Henry St) and bought a hat for €1.50, it wasn't an ear trapper, but it did exactly the same job the one in A|Wear would have done, but for a lot less money.

    Much warmer?

Look at these links, they will give you a clear idea what the weather is going to be like.
